Jerry Elliot Walker Fund
Jerry Elliot Walker Fund is a scholarship program established with the hopes of assisting recovering addicts with the desire to continue their education. Individuals who are willing to commit to a life of recovery and abstaining from the use of mood-altering substances may qualify for this scholarship. The Jerry Elliot Walker Fund offers awards of up to $10,000 for students attending community college, four-year university, trade school or technical school. Awards are granted based on the demands of the program in which the applicant will be enrolled. In order to qualify, applicants must be 18 or older, exhibit strong leadership in their community, have one year free of substances and must adhere to drug screenings as well as partake in ongoing counseling. Applicants will also be required to write a 500-word essay, submit 3 letters of recommendation and complete the JEW Fund Application From. An initial assessment at the time of application and during the academic year will be required to assess applicant needs. In order to remain in good standing with the committee, the student must remain in good academic standing and adhere to random drug screenings and check ins.
